The last two measures of the first section of the Romanza, before the
bassethorns and bassoon minor middle section, go, "Diddle-iddle dum,
dum,(barline) Dum, dum, (rest)." The idea is that at the end of the reprise
of the Romanza, the second of these two bars is omitted, so the transition to
the Coda goes, "Diddle-iddle dum, dum,(barline)Ooooo.....(barline)Ooooo....."
instead of the traditional "Diddle-iddle dum, dum,(barline)Dum, dum,
(rest)(barline)Ooooo.....(barline)Ooooo....."

The discussion revolves around the difficulty of going,
"dum,(barline)Oooo....." nicely, instead of "dum, (rest)(barline)Ooooo.....",
even with the help of "Umm-umm-umm-umm-umm-umm(barline)etc" underneath the
"Ooooo....." Some players find the transition difficult to swallow, and it's
the different possible unpackings of what is needed for a musician to be able
to 'swallow' in such a context that generates the problem.

Hope that helps:-)
