Most of us have had the experience with the Bb obsession.. The fact is
that a lot of conductors haven't the training or the patience to work with
the ensemble. It starts early in the education process, so many of the
musicians haven't developed the habit of listening to each other, either.

Then there are the ensembles that aren't together long enough to develop a
unified sense of pitch. I heard a disc by something called the Orchestra
of the European Union. Sounded like one quick read-through followed by the
recording session. At a couple spots my ears hurt.
