Dear C.C. Lin,

I've posted my observations about this topic before at this link:

http://test.woodwind.org/Databases/Logs/1999/05/000729.txt

In addition, I was accepted into the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1983 =
playing a Marcellus mthpc from 1983 when the mouthpieces were really at =
their peak IMO (The Marcellus M13 facing is a completely different =
animal than the relatively new Vand. mthpc model named the M13). At that =
time I felt it to be one of the finest machine made mthpcs available - =
after Mr. Aiello's hand adjustments were done at my request.

As I state in the link, I do not believe that the mthpcs produced after =
Mr. Aiello left LeBlanc in 1983 were of nearly that quality. Something =
changed...and not for the better IMO. They seem to remain that way in =
their present incarnation.

In direct answer to your question, I believed at the time, they were the =
closet a machine made mthpc came to resemble the original Kaspar that =
Marcellus played at that time. The mthpcs up until 1983 were intended to =
resemble Marcellus's own Kaspar as much as possible.

Gregory Smith
