Subj: [kl] I feel so bloody stupid (which may very well be true in any case)

I have been reading the website for smartmusic and, though I could be
completely incorrect, that is absolutely the worst and most poorly
constructed website -- deliberately constructed to give the least
information possible -- I've ever seen.

If it is supposed to tell me what smartmusic is and what I need to order
whatever it is they sell, it fails completely.

They speak only about "subscriptions" which gives me access to things I
don't want and don't need, much less even understand.

They don't speak about what it is I can buy in terms of the software
involved and how much that purchase will cost.

I get the feeling that it is a self-contained practice program that will
play along with you, vis-a-vis the old style music-minus-one recordings,
though much more intelligently, and that they have something that will
do this trick, but they never exactly say what it is that you need to
buy, only what you will get if you "subscribe."

Keep in mind that I make an effort to keep out of my head all things
that I don't need. I have enough crap up there anyway but its just
enough so that when I need something, I go into my head and am able to
find it. If I simply add things willy-nilly, then I'll never be able to
find what I need when I go up there looking for it. A mind must be kept
orderly in order to function at maximum efficiency.

Besides, I still have a lot to learn about the 18th century before I
start learning about the 19th, 20th, and 21st century technology.

All of this explains why I have not paid the slightest attention to the
development of smartmusic, and why at this juncture of my life I am 7
generations out of cycle.

So if I have to subscribe to anything, I'm naturally uncomfortable about
it. It is a marketing technique that I distrust automatically. I simply
want a program that does what I need, no marketing hype, a little
solitude, and a way to play in tune.

Who out there has some suggestions for a simple-minded boob? If you are
good at communicating the answers to my questions, you can either marry
my daughter, or have my basset horn.
