Don't know if it will help or hinder, but my local shop (the one I trust) no
longer sells or rents Yamahas as they have become somewhat displeased with
(lack of) quality control & instrument durability. Their 2003 catalogue
still lists a number of Yamaha instruments, so it has been a fairly recent
change.

I should also mention that we have a 18 month old Yamaha that is excellent
(though it wears a Clark Fobes mpc).
