I've been really happy with using AKGC414s. I have a ULS version and an
EB version. I think they make a clarinet sound great.

Of course, a good microphone is part of the battle. Then you get into
preamps, cables, and how you are recording everything (Hard Drive?
Protools? etc etc. 44.1Khz, 48Khz, 96Khz, etc etc)
