I know there are many theories about the Strads. My friend Georg Ignazius who invented Resonance Spectral Tuning claims that it is the exact proportions which make the Strad what it is. He has done some work on this and demonstrated repeatable differences at the Fraunhofer Institut I think it was. He did some barrels and bells for my clarinets too which I can also demonstrate simply by changing the pieces.
By the way, I've seen a sex museum in the red light district of Amsterdam near the main station. Dan, if you come to have Turkish food with belly dancing in Freiburg, we may as well saunter on up to Amsterdam and have a look at the sex museum, uh, I mean the concertgebouw!
