It is a question that has been asked many times. There are a number of
factors that cause a purchase of one clarinet over another, not the
least of which is marketing hype and the need to be a part of the pack.

But there are mechanical factors too, such as quality of manufacture
that can reduce maintanence costs.

But when you try out more than two or three clarinets, I think you get
deaf and really lose all objectivity. In any case, whatever differences
exsist, they are not likely to be in the sound character produced.
