I will try and get there - it would be my second visit to Trafalgar =
Square
in a short while, after being one member of a crowd of towards 200,000
people who happened to find their way there yesterday.=20

I was quite surprised to return to a mailing list discussing =
presidential
issues, as I had been thinking as I walked the route of the =
demonstration
about all those questions about 'marching bands' and which instrument is
best (Vito 40, I seem to remember). There were lots of drumming bands,
yesterday, but no wind bands (I did see one sax player). It seems that =
apart
from the drummers music has largely disappeared from political rallies =
here
in the UK, and instead there is a huge cacophony of whistles and bangs =
and
sirens. I wonder if the same is true in America, with your 'marching =
band'
culture? I can remember demos from my youth where Trade Union Brass =
bands
paraded alongside New Orleans style bands, and they were great fun. I =
even
played in one myself once with an American street theatre group - my =
first
contact with metal clarinets - although I can't for the life of me =
remember
what the burning issue was.=20

Why am I saying all this? Well, of course I'm being a little devious - =
but I
was thinking those thoughts and I reckon there as relevant to the =
content of
this list as the regular severe weather reports we receive from time to
time.=20
