Subj: [kl] Flutter Tonguing

Alright. I've been trying for the last month to flutter tongue. I've read
the archives but nothing seems to work. I can't roll my R's and i can't
growl.

I think part of it has to do with an hole in thr roof of my mouth and enters
my nasal cavity (left over from surgeries to correct a cleft palate.
Because of this hole, the only way i can tongue is with anchor tonguing.
And for the last 13 years, no one has ever been able to tell i anchor
tongue.

But i'm supposed to be doing a world premiere of a work for flute, clarinet
and guitar in January that has a bit of flutter tonguing (aside from there
being alot of works i'd really like to do that have been out of my rep
because of flutter tonguing). And i'd hate to have to back out of the
premiere just because of a few sections with flutter tonguing.

The closest effect i can get to flutter tonguing is humming a low note as i
play, but that's neither the same sound, nor reliable. Anyone have any
ideas?

Disconcerted,
Daniel
