It can be true. However, because I'm an infrequent player of the bass
clarinet, on starting it up again I have sometimes been misled by the idea
into using an embouchure that doesn't control the reed sufficiently near the
tip.

That makes, for example, low attacks unstable for me.

The trickiness of playing an instrument is that success depends on each of a
number of variables being set in its own optimal range. So I'd prefer to
replace 'lots of' by 'enough', and 'much more' by 'more', in the advice you
cite.
