I believe Forest is correct, though it has been many years since I
actually dealt with Buffet in Paris. I lived there and when I was
interested in a clarinet, I had to go to the Buffet shop in Paris
because they would not sell them to me or anyone as far as I know, at
the factory. One might be able to play them at the factory (though that
could have changed too), but there was no way you could buy them there.

It seemed to me that Buffet at that time was not interested in walk up
sales, though Selmer was very enouraging in this respect.
