I know there are quite a few saxophone experts on the list. I would
like to know something about the new Yamaha saxophone model, the
YAS475
and YTS475. I believe they are intended to be replacements for the
old
YAS52 and YTS52, which were their first supposed "professional"
models,
but which are now regarded as intermediate instruments. According to
the advertising hype, the 475's are supposed to incorporate certain
design features of the more expensive Custom models. How good are
they?
How do the prices compare with the model 52?

Thanks for any information.

Hi Ed, no, the 62 was Yamaha's Pro Sax, not the 52 which was always
the intermediate horn. The new 475 is a good instrument, but to me
not as good as the Jupiter Silver "professional" model (it is a really
good intermediate instrument but can't compare to the Yamaha Custom
for instance - neither does the 475 to me. I've compared the Jupiter
head to head with the 475 and prefer it for sound and response.
