Subj: [kl] Identity of a Yamaha instrument

Dear Folks,

A young colleague just brought me a Yamaya Bb clarinet which she wants to
sell. (She is interested in guitar - can you imagine that!) I know
nothing about the Yamaha instruments except that some say they are rather
good. This one is marked "Yamaha etc." on the upper joint and the bell,
but no clear model designations. There is only a "34" on the upper joint,
and a serial number (037xxxA II) on the lower joint only. She tells me she
bought it from a local store in southern Connecticut about 6 years ago for
something like $700.

The instrument seems to be in very good condition, keys shiny, corks new
looking, pads clean and seeming to seal well (plays well.) Wood seems a
bit grainy and dull finished compared to my R13. There is a Yamaha 4C
mouthpiece with it, and a new looking plastic case.

So what am I looking at? And what might one expect to get for it on ebay?

Thanks - George
