More generally: there is a book that has been on my shelf for years, one =
of
those "I've been meaning to read this, someday soon" titles. Came to me =
from
my parent's collection. The title is "The Great Discount Delusion: How
Discounting is Exploiting You, Destroying Quality Brands, and Killing =
Off
Competition." The author is Walter Henry Nelson; copyright date is 1965.

I have no idea what's between the covers - it may be a pile of dreck, or
simply obvious (because it was written many years ago). But I'm going to
move it onto my reading stack and find out what it has to say.
