In order to satisfy my own curiosity, I did a Google search about
napthalene. Various sites say that it decays after a day or two of
open air and sunlight. They advise washing clothes that have been
stored with mothball crystals (especially for kids) because the amount
of napthalene that re-deposits onto the fabric builds up over time.
However, the primary source of napthalene for the 'average person' is
smoke from wood fires. I'm going to live dangerously and enjoy some
fires in my fireplace this winter. Mothball crystals are the second
largest source of napthalene for the 'average person', and of course,
clarinetists are tougher than the 'average person', correct?
