I'm not sure if you are allergic to mothballs or not. I'm not, so I
took the clarinet out of the case, and stuck in a pile of them. It
seemed to do the trick. However, I'm a bit warped, and rather like the
smell of mothballs. Most folks hate it. Also, taking the horn out, and
spraying it with a product called Febreeze may help as well to get that
"old musty case" odor out. Main thing is, CLOSE the case once you've
either sprayed OR put in the mothballs, and leave it closed for quite
some time, perhaps even a week.

Just a thought. Worth a try, unless you're allergic to chemicals.

If you have chemical allergies, try spraying pure lemon juice into the
case through a spritzer - not diluted with water - then airing the case
out for a week.

Let us know how it goes :)
