In fact, the analogy may be even more apt than I first thought. Some of the
suggestions of ways to provide immediate help may have been equivalent to
stuffing lots of cotton wadding in the shoes so the child could muddle
around in them, but he/she still couldn't really walk comfortably. Other
suggestions (Eb clarinet, C clarinet) seem equivalent to buying another,
smaller pair of shoes and putting the larger ones away until later -
certainly effective, if maybe a little expensive. We don't seem to disagree.
