Just so happens I got back today from a long road trip - almost 400 miles each
way to visit a friend.
I have a 12-CD changer in my car (2 magazines that hold 6 discs each). My
tastes run all over the map, though most of my CDs are orchestral music.
Magazine No. 1 is always filled with compilation CDs of my favorite new age,
big band/swing, pop/rock, classical, etc. Magazine No. 2 is usually filled
with whatever orchestral music I happen to be in the mood for. I like more
upbeat music for long drives. This time, I listened to these CDs:
Rodrigo - Complete Concertos for Guitar and Harp, disc 1 (Concierto de
Aranjuez, Concierto andaluz, Concierto serenata, Sones en la Giralda)
Rimsky-Korsakov - Christmas Eve Overture and Suite, Night on Mount Triglav,
other selections (a Naxos bargain!)
Mozart - Symphonies no. 35, 40 and 41
Vivaldi - "Concert for the Prince of Poland" (assorted concertos)
Swedish Orchestral Favorites (another one from Naxos)
Borodin - Symphonies 2 and 3, Polovtsian Dances, In the Steppes of Central Asia
