I'll unilaterally expand the topic a bit since I haven't flown since 1997
and it wasn't a long enough flight (Newark to Columbus, Ohio) to warrant
musical accompaniment. But I do a lot of driving five days a week: about
84 miles both ways. The car didn't come with a CD player so when I got
this job I had one installed.

So...for fliers as well as drivers with a killer commute...pick some
traveling music. Right now I've been wearing out klezmer CDs, esp. Margot
Leverett's two recordings, an astounding thing by David Krakauer called
"The Twelve Tribes," some Klezmatics recordings that also feature
Krakauer...and the usual fathers of the tribe, Brandwein and Tarras. I'll
switch to chamber music, sometimes--now that Pat mentioned it--jazz that
favors the saxophone. Sometimes I'll bring along an opera. But maybe it's
time to grab the Dolphy CDs off the shelf and listen to him again.

I guess the question has become What's your favorite traveling music?
