Stacy, i don't know if you play bass or not, or even if you're into jazz
or improv. But here's an idea - do some listening to some Eric Dolphy
recordings. Then transcribe them - or better yet, try to play them
yourself, by ear. That would accomplish some ear training, and some
technical practice, as well as giving you some experience in an entirely
different idiom. :>)

(P.S. - sometimes I feel I'd never heard a real bass clarinet until i
heard some Eric Dolphy recordings! WOW! Anyone know if any of his
stuff is out on CD?)
