Anyone here ever played a Conn clarinet?

Hello list,

Yes I have several Conn's and really enjoy playing them!

I'm Aad Overeem, jazzplayer from the Netherlands, mostly lurking (because I
spend much time playing) but enjoying this list very much!

Have some very nice old Conn's from the 30's and 40's. Found (actually
discovered) them on eBay.
Thanks to some eBay sellers/bidders I learned a lot about old clarinets,
especially concerning metal instruments, from listmember Jim Lande, thanks
again Jim!

The model '444', like Artie Shaw (probably?) played, is my favourite,
according to a Conn serial nr. list it's from 1941, just as old as me.
To me, played with the proper mouthpiece/reed combination, it has a great,
warm, loud, 'Jazz' sound (whatever that me be) the best sound of all my
clarinets, and trough the years I played a lot of them, Selmer, Buffet,
Leblanc, Noblet, Wurlitzer, Uebel, etc. etc.

As far as I know, the 444 was Conn's top of the line model, also have a
couple of model '424'-s, also great sounding instruments, and two very nice
'silver' Conn model '524' clarinets with a lovely sound.
As you'll see I love to play my Conn's!

Keep playing and All the best,

Aad Overeem
