Hello Klarineters!

I'll be playing the World Premiere of Ned Rorem's "Four Colors" for clarinet
and piano -- written for me and pianist Judith Olson - on the following
program next Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 8 PM at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, NYC.

The new piece is in four movements -- Red, White, Blue, Orange; fast, slow,
moderate and as fast as can be! It has some beautiful melodies, especially in
the "White" movement. It includes a handful of "double high C's" and ends on
a run from low E up to "double high D." Ned asked what the highest note was
on a clarinet and I said "double high C" for most purposes; he said, let's push
that a little. After we record it, the sheet music will be available from
Boosey & Hawkes.

If you're in the city, hope you can make it.
