the full report on my Conn. It is wooden. it is 33 years old. it has no
cracks. It sat in a closet or attic since 1973 when I graduated until Jan
2003 when I decided that I was finished with my rest. It aint great but it
is not bad either. Walter Grabner played once when we were picking out mouth
pieces one day. He made it sound good so it is possible.
It must have been pretty good at one time. I remember that both my 9th
grade and 10-12th band instructors would grab it to play whenever they
wanted to demostrate something. (maybe just because my mouthpiece was always
clean). they had 10 other clarinets to chose form and they were all new.
I like it better than a Vito plastic one that I borrow from my brother and
yes the bore is bigger.
I think, but am not sure, that it could be helped by new stiffer springs on
the bottom joint. I can plug it and blow. Air goes some where very very very
slowly but I can not detect where. I think the pads are lifting ever so
slightly.???
Like I said I have soooo much improvements to make with the PLAYER that I
am not in a hurry to buy a new one (clarient that is). Nancy who lives not
far away has offerred to help me find one when the time comes. Before I drop
big bucks into a horn I want to be sure that this is not just a mid-life
crisis fad. I promised myself that I would play at least a year before
looking seriousely. (time is up Jan 2004)

But to answer Ken's question.... Yes I play one about 1 hour ever night from
8:00 PM -9:00PM except for tuesday when I go to band practice. They have not
kicked me out for using it yet. I will put black tape over the name tommorow
night.
