When playing the Klose scale study, do I really need to breath at every
breath mark? This is the study on pg. 1 of my Klose "Scales and Exercises"
and is labeled Major and Minor Scales. It goes through the circle of fifths
with the major scale and the relative minor. There is a breath mark every
two measures. I'm having a hard time with this. It sounds like a trivial
thing, but I really want to know. Should I be trying to get a breath at
every breath mark? Should I have used all my air in those two measures?
While I was learning this exercise it wasn't an issue. I'd take a breath
when I messed up and start again, but now that I can go through it pretty
much all the way without messing up I can't breath right, and in the right
rhythm. The more I practice, the more I realize that breathing is one of my
weaknesses and could use some guidance.
