Embouchure

I’ve played clarinet for about 12 years now (yes I’m a
youngen) and I’m currently completing my senior
internship (I’m a music ed major). My supervising
teacher is also a clarinetist and I’ve discovered that
we have two completely different concepts of how to
teach the clarinet embouchure. I’m sure this topic has
come across this listserv many a times, but I was
hoping some of you on this list would share your
thoughts on teaching the clarinet embouchure so I
could get a wide variety of ideas and perhaps combine
them into something great. Now, not to negate its
validity, but I’m not interested at this time in
double lip embouchures unless someone has a convincing
case as to why I should teach beginners to use double
lip.

Thanks in advance for any input on this topic.
