They (I'm sure there are some
honourable exceptions) sing all the notes correctly, but they get them =
all
wrong. It don't mean a thing, etc...

Correct notes, wrong style. Every once in a while I come across =
something in jazz that makes sense and I will venture out on the limb =
and play lead alto. Most of the time though I stick to second, where I =
can follow the lead of my first player. It doesn't always make sense, =
but I go to rehearsal and make an effort to learn. And I know much more =
now than I did six years ago, when I came home from my first jazz =
rehearsal and cried for an hour. But I'm going to learn this style, =
even if it kills me. It will probably kill my audience first though.
