But I write to say thankyou. I visited the 10 year old daughter of a
nephew
recently. I'm too far from away from her to give lessons to her.
She's in
public school, enjoys her clarinet, and has never had a lesson. We
played
together enough for me to see she is struggling. How will I help from
a distance?
I have ordered a Clark Fobes Debut and a Legere 3 (though I may go
for a 2
1/2). I will hint strongly to my nephew that she gets a teacher and
that her
rental instrument gets a going over. These things all come from
listening to
the teachers here talk too much.
Thanks,
Wayne Thompson

Wayne, I use the same setup for my students except that I have them
get the 2 3/4 reed strength. Also I use the Grand Concert Thick Blank
2 1/2 for the Debut MP as it works quite well for starting out players
also. As far as I['m concerned the parents are already spending big
bucks on lessons so playing on a good reed is just part of the
compensation package (mine as much as theirs ;).
