Well, I was 11 when I started to play and I'm 53 now.=20

Since you ask what age I started at, and I hope the list won't mind - =
here
is something about my playing background. Once I finished my secondary
education I carried on playing - doodling on my own mostly, but =
eventually
played with a few bands - I suppose you would classify them as rock/jazz
with the odd burst of free improvisation. These bands were all highly
eclectic in their approach. I relied totally on improvisation to get me =
by.
I'm afraid that over the years I allowed all my limited theoretical
knowledge to wither away to such an extent that I'd forgotten just about
everything. I couldn't even name the notes of each key. I probably spent
more time finding out how to play harsh and unpleasant sounds than how =
to
play sweet, rounded tones. Squeaks? Fine by me.=20

Now I'm back to my solitary doodling and I want to find people to play =
with
again. I'm quite shy about this, even although I've never been =
particularly
shy about performing. I know I need to improve my skills all round =
before I
can expect anyone to take me on board, so suddenly I'm doing studies and
patterns, trying to get a grip back into the basics of theory, reading =
this
list (and very informative it is too). Maybe I'll take some lessons =
again,
who knows...
