Subj: RE: [kl] [clarinet] reeds for beginners?

Sorry, I hit send by mistake, while trying to look in my address book =
for a phone number. I have had students whose parents are rolling in =
money come in with some of the worst junk. They are usually the ones =
who don't want to spend a blessed nickel more than they can get away =
with (that's how they acquired their money in the first place!). I have =
seen very few kids EVER come in with a decent mouthpiece, unless they =
are coming from another teacher. If they are beginners, this is highly =
unlikely. Most low end reeds will play easily on the junker mouthpieces =
that kids arrive with. If a beginner were to arrive for lessons with me =
and had a decent mouthpiece, I would assume whoever gave it to him would =
know something about the instrument and probably started him on a decent =
reed or two designed for that mouthpiece.
