I have never heard it be called the banana key before. I remember calling it
"that thing that you push when you finger Bb to make a B" when I was in
middle school. Then one of my band dictators called it a "fork key" which
makes a little sense to me. What I want to know is why they call it the "K"
key. The only think I could think of is K for Kromatic, because if they
called it a C key, it could cause confusion.

Sound like a reasonable theory??
