You need to be careful about jumping to any conclusions about any strike
based on what's printed about it in a newspaper - especially as short and
superficial an article as this one. Strikers in any industry are rarely as
mindless and blindly self-destructive as they are often made out to be and
there's almost certainly more to this situation than the need to make up a
9% deficit in last season's budget. How else, for example, have they tried
and failed to find the money to pay the shortfall?

This is nonetheless a sad article on its face. Whether or not your
characterization of the musicians as having gone "berzerk" is fair I have no
way to judge - I'm not close enough to the situation to know.
