They don't come up secondhand...they are too good to sell...???? :)
I know of a fine Yamaha Custom here in New Zealand, but it is a long way
to come to look at a clarinet... :)
I have just replaced it with a Yamaha CS model, bought BRAND NEW for
around US$1100. They do come up occasionally!!! They are both very good
instruments, but the newer CS model seems to be a little more flexible
and the barrels on the BOTH my CS clarinets are great. While I would
love to get to Morrie Backun to have a barrel made, I don't know when I
will get to Vancouver again to visit him....but Yamaha ones beat the
Chadash barrels I have tried on these particular instruments. Don't know
what the SEV model is like, but I see that John Yeh is playing both
models (according to Yamaha)...however John Yeh would make anything
sound good! Interestingly both barrels are great on the older Custom
models that I have tried as well. Might be a very good "upgrade" for
people with those instruments - definitely add to the flexibility and
response......
Also I have just received one Rico H (Harrison) model ligatures...I have
replaced my Vandoren Optimum with it now...enough said... :)
Cheers
