I was delighted to hear this trick - I play a 10-10 and the sharp B =
natural
is a nightmare. The tone becomes a little unstable when you relax your =
lips
enough to bring it in tune and this G# 4 key does indeed flatten the =
pitch
perfectly without degrading the tone. I had always, foolishly, assumed =
that
venting like that would make it sharper, but of course it actually =
lengthens
the wind column. Are there any more 10-10 related tips in that book? I
wonder if you can remember which title it was?

It's a trick suggested in Jack Brymer's book for helping very soft =
entries
on the long B, though not for louder playing. Results may vary on =
different
clarinets; his were Boosey & Hawkes 10-10s.

doesn't seem to be on my R-13.
