When I was being taught repair of clarinets, we placed the wooden =
clarinet bodies (no keys or springs) in an oil "bath" for a week. When =
it came out it was wiped clean and dry. Clarinets that need oil usually =
need new springs (not always, but usually). The oil is wiped off after =
being removed and when clean and dry, it is resprung. I think Walter =
does something along this line too. Maybe you were taught differently. =
Putting the keys back on is relatively simple. Seating pads and =
leveling pad cups is the harder part, along with fitting corks and =
felts.
