List,
My question is not about clarinets but about an old LP recording from
the 50's. You are all such a great resource, I thank you in advance for any
info.
Does anyone remember, and better yet have information about, a Hi Fi
demonstration record, monaural, from the fifties, perhaps produced by Capital
Records, having popular music selections on one side and classical on the
other? A friend and I, both kids in the fifties, were remembering important
musical influences on us as kids, and realized that we both had had a certain
recording in the house. And we both really loved what we heard on it. I would like
to look it up on eBay and buy it, but I don't remember enough identifying
info, and I have had no luck so far. We remember a Martin Denny piece (Quiet
Village?) and a soprano singing the 'Song from Moulin Rouge' (Whenever we kiss, I
worry and wonder.....) on the pop side, and a bit from a Tchaikovsky string
quartet, the finale from the Shostakovich Piano and trumpet concerto #1, and a
bit from 'Autumn' from the 'Seasons' by Glazonov on the classical side. We
suspect that anything else on it will bring good memories, also.
Any recollections?
Wayne Thompson
