Hi everyone! Thought this might be of interest:

A news item posted 9/19 on andante.com reports that
Baroque scholar Michael Talbot, a professor of music
at Liverpool University, "has announced his discovery
of a lost sacred work by Antonio Vivaldi. The find was
the outcome of a long research process aimed at
identifying and reassembling a set of five Vesper
psalms plus a Magnificat which Vivaldi was known to
have sold in 1739 to the Ospedale della Pieta, the
foundling hospice in Venice where the composer had
taught. In May, making use of his knowledge of
performing practices at the Pieta . . . and thanks to
an e-mailed prompt from the Australian scholar Janice
Stockigt, Talbot was able to identify the missing
fifth psalm, a 'Nisi Dominus' in A major, within the
manuscript collection of the Sachsische
Landesbibliothek (Saxon State Library) in Dresden,
Germany." The eight-movement work, now designated as
RV 803 in the Vivaldi catalogue, is scored for
strings, organ, chalumeau (Baroque clarinet), and "a
highly virtuosic vocal trio (one soprano and two
altos) . . . " It will have its "first modern
performance" on December 7 in Dresden by the Guido
Titze and the Dresdner Barockorchester.
