Clark, I agree that Delrin can produce a brighter sound. I think, at times, this can be an advantage, especially fitting an older clarinet with a somewhat dull or otherwise stuffy tone.

In order to get a "darker" tone, I have had success by slightly "distressing" the interior of the bore, after the final reaming. The barrel I sent to Sue was one of those types and was one of my personal favorites.

You know how it is - you know you're done when you want to keep it for yourself..............
