Francois -

I understand that the Buffet "Tosca" clarinets are really fine instruments,
but that they have one fault: They keep wanting to jump off the stage after
the final number. (For those of you, who don't understand this terrible
joke, check out the final scene of "Tosca".)

Seriously, Francois, I have been wanting to ask you a question for several
years. Circa 1940, my parents purchased for me a Bb
"Henri Dubois - Paris clarinet". We were told by my teacher and the store
that the Dubois was a Buffet "second" because of a swirl in the wood in the
upper joint which might crack (it did). It was a good horn that sat on the
shelf for 40+ years until I resumed playing 7 years ago. (No further
cracks.) The key work is nearly the same as today's Buffets.

I've asked the question several times on Klarinet without an answer. Did
Buffet ever market Buffet "seconds" under the Henri Dubois name?

Thank you for taking a moment to advise me. (Sorry for the joke.)

Regards,

Gene Nibbelin

Dear List,

I will be going on a tour to present the new Tosca clarinets to players next
month.

The first presentation will be on Sunday the 12th of October at Vince
Marinelli woodwinds in Wilmington Delaware (near Philadelphia). He organized
for a room to have the instruments displayed and Mark Nuccio Associate
Principal and Solo Eb with the New York Philharmonic will give master
classes. It will start at 12 noon and go until 8pm. If you want more
information about that date please call Vince at 1-302-479-0373.

I will stay for one more day to visit with the Philadelphia Orchestra
clarinet section and will be going to New York City after that until the
19th with probably a stop by Boston. If you want more information about this
trip you can contact me at 1 800 426 7068 x 401 or by e-mail at
francois.kloc@-----.

I will bring my tools with me and will be on hand to do minor adjustments on
instruments.

Musically Yours,

Francois Kloc
