<<<I know a good bit was said to be lost when Paris burnt in 1943, but I
have no idea if my clarinet was made before or after said date.>>>

As a person who has a considerable interest in the history of World War
II, perhaps in part because I'm old enough to remember some things about
it, I can assure you that Paris did not burn in 1943. Hitler had
ordered his generals to burn the city before leaving it, but in one of
the few instances of disobedience to him, they did not do so. The world
can be thankful that Paris escaped the War years essentially unscathed.
There is an interesting book on the subject titled "Is Paris Burning."
I believe it was also made in to a movie or a TV special. I don't
remember the author's name, but I'm sure it won't be difficult to find
it.
