I should point out I live in that "other" Virginia, Patricia, in Charleston,
and so we share the humidity problems. The past two summers have been
incredibly so, haven't they?

I was another young clarinetist who was inspired by Mr. Brymer at a time I
was close to giving the instrument up. Somehow I got hold of recordings of
British clarinetists more easily - Brymer, de Peyer, Kell - and am thankful
they came into my musical life when they did. But Mr. Brymer's Mozart, as
many are here mentioning, will always be one of my treasured memories and
inspirations.

Speaking of Walter's immersion treatment, I was told by someone a couple of
years ago that some of the French mouthpiece makers in the 30s through the
50s used to keep their blanks in almond oil to preserve them and prevent the
discoloration and related problems until they were shipped to other
countries...anyone know about that?

Don
