Might I echo the comments of so many others on the list today. Jack
Brymer has always been an inspiration to me - a self taught man who was
at the top of his profession for decades. His recording of the Mozart
work with Beecham is one of the most treasured CDs I own.

I recall him in the green room at the Wigmore Hall in London - I was a
mere teenager - and he was kindly and generous, and autographed my copy
of his book. That book was my bible through my early years of playing.
The wisdom in it should be available to every clarinettist.

Jack Brymer was, like Dennis Brain before him, one of those musicians
who was a musician first and an instrumentalist second. I think that is
the mark of a great player.

A sad day indeed for the musical world in general, and the clarinet
world in particular.
