Kevin -
I was lucky enough to have visited the Buffet Crampon factory last November. I don't think they have a drop-in and we'll give you a tour policy. If you go to the Buffet web site, there is an e-mail address where, as a courtesy, you can let them know what days you will be in and around Paris, ask if you may come to visit, and they will let you know when and if they are providing tours. It is about an hour from Paris by train from Gare St. Lazare, quite easy to get to and the tour is an experience you will never forget!!!
Everyone there was so gracious and welcoming - I had the good fortune to tour with several Norwegian clarinetists who were also visiting in Paris. We saw clarinets being made from from the arrival of the raw wood, to the finished product - quite amazing. And if you have a few more extra hours, the Musee de Musique, also simple to get to via the Metro, is a must see. It is just next door to the Paris Conservatory. I love Paris and go several times a year, so if I may be of any help with directions and such, I would be delighted. Bon Voyage!!
Jeanne
