Vic, I used to oil the bore of my clarinet on a regular basis but in =
the
last 7 years or so, I've had technicians who only recommend perhaps once =
a
year oiling and they do this only when I need to have work done on the
clarinet. It has now been two years since the last time I had it done =
and
the clarinet is doing fine. The upper joint has cork pads only and the =
pads
on the lower joint are holding up extremely well. I've had several
technicians tell me that too much oil will dull the tone quality of the
clarinet and in my experience this is true. It's sounding very good at =
the
moment and I don't look forward to having it oiled again in the near =
future.

I haven't read all the posts on this issue yet so perhaps others =
have
addressed this also. =20
