Caution: now approaching controversial mine field.

It is likely that you are simply over-oiling your clarinet. Did you tell us
how new your instrument is? Buffet, for one, recommends that you apply no oil
at all to their new clarinets. Grenadilla is an extremely hard and dense wood;
it takes a long time for any liquid to penetrate it. Clarinet blanks are
soaked in oil at the factory -- a treatment that lasts for years -- and even
then, it only penetrates a small distance into the wood.
