I have a Buffet R-13 with silver plated keys and a silver plated Vandoren ligature. To keep the knurled nut on the ligature from nicking the closest key when it's in the case I was using the tip of an old sock as a little mouthpiece bag. However, perhaps the rubber threads in the sock (being slightly stretchy) caused it, but the ligature had started tarnishing. I have used silver polish but it keeps coming back, even though I no longer store the mouthpiece in anything. Now a couple of the keys near it in the case are also starting to tarnish.
What can I use that will remove the tarnish and keep it away? It looks like standard silver polish just isn't quite doing the trick...
