The Greeks did not gain their independence from the Turks until 1830
after 350 years of Ottoman domination. Their first composers (born c. 1860s)
were trained by musicians from abroad (Italy) or they studied abroad
in Rome or Paris, etc. Hope I have not misunderstood the question.
Classical Greece is something else, (480-323 BC).
