In response to your request about clarinet solos with concert band, I
want to let you know about my "Transformations No. 1" composed in 1985.
A playful allegro opens this one movement work in several sections. The
melodic material in the opening clarinet theme is transformed through
various devices including fragmentation, extension, tempo changes, and
tonal shifts. The work contains a cadenza leading to a vigorous coda.
