From: RichChPlay@-----.com Subj: [kl] Question about a Leblanc clarinet Date: Fri, 5 Sep 2003 21:22:14 -0400
Hello all - I have a question about a clarinet brought to me by a new
student. If I read the imprint correctly, it is a Leblanc III, serial
number C407. It has a number of "interesting" characteristics that make
it not your average old Leblanc.
First, it has a LH third finger ring, but it is not an articulated G#
mechanism.
It has a double register key/Bb key mechanism.
It also has an extra pad on the lower joint, between the F/C pad and the
E/B pad. This pad works in tandem with the F/C pad, and doesn't appear to
have any independent function, as far as I can tell.
Can anyone identify this instrument? Is it a professional model from the
past? the student is playing on a newer E-11, but wants to know if it is
worth the money and effort to get the Leblanc fixed up.
TIA
David
