You should be aware that this is a hoax - it's been going around in =
various
forms for over a year.

The file in question, jdbgmgr.exe, is actually a harmless file that is
usually used by Visual J++ developers. Don't worry if you have already
deleted the file, though. If you don't do Visual J++ or Java =
development,
you won't miss it - it's not needed for the average user.

As a long-time professional in the ISP business and software business, I
cannot stress strongly enough the need to double-check ANY email warning =
you
receive about viruses against reputable hoax sites before taking action =
-
there are a lot of hoaxes out there. Take the few minutes to make sure.

When it comes to viruses, Trojans and the like, you will always find =
good
info at the Symantec website, or any of the major anti-virus sites have =
good
links.

For this virus:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/jdbgmgr.exe.file.=

http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/jdbgmgr.htm
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=3Dkb;en-us;Q322993

Good resources to check for any virus:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/
http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/virus.htm
http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp

If the virus is targeted at Microsoft products, you'll also want to =
check
http://www.microsoft.com. If there is a destructive new virus or a =
rampant
new hoax going on, it will be on the Microsoft.com homepage as soon as =
any
info is available, usually within a few hours.=20

Thanks -
Trish

"The virus (called jdbgmgr.exe) is not detected by Norton or McAfee
antivirus systems. The virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging
the system. It is sent automatically by messenger and by the address
book, whether or not you sent e-mail to your contacts. Here's how to
check for the virus and how to get rid of it:
